3th-4th Grade ELA Teacher
I graduated from Odessa High School. I attended Blinn Jr. College and received my Associate”s Degree of Science. Then, I went on to Sam Houston State University and graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdiscplinarian Studies with a major in English.
I taught 8th grade language arts in Houston,Texas for several years. After teaching in the classroom, I became an Academic Achievement Specialist. As an AAS, I worked with at-risk students who needed a push and a pull to be successful in the classroom and on the state’s standarized test. We moved from Houston to East Texas where I took a position with Longview ISD. My assignment was 4th grade self-contained classroom teacher. I am now employed with Avinger ISD, and my assignment is 3rd/4th grade reading and language arts classroom teacher.
I am one of five children, and I am the youngest of four older brothers. My sweet and caring mother is still with us, and we enjoy her daily.I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 44 years. We have three daughters and four grandchildren. In addition, we have three great-grandchildren. Our third great-grandchild just joined us this July.
Throughout my life, I have dabbled in many hobbies. i have learned to like to fish, which iis my hubby’s second love. i have learned many skills; however, not many of these skills can be labeled as a hobby. However, I do love to cook! If I am not cooking, I am reading a recipe book or watching the chefs on the cooking channel.
I believe that teaching is not only a profession, but also a calling...or for some, a gift. I love to teach! I love to see lightbulbs going off in children’s minds, as their eyes light up! I hope to teach and guide the students to their very best potential.
